This guide explains the different user roles available in the system and the permissions associated with each role.

Overview #

User roles help control what each user can view, edit, and manage within the platform. Assigning the correct role ensures security and efficient collaboration.

Available Roles #

Administrator #

Administrators have full access to the platform, including:

  • Manage all users
  • Create, edit, and delete content
  • Configure system settings
  • Manage permissions and roles
  • View reports and analytics

Editor #

Editors can manage content but cannot modify system settings.

Permissions include:

  • Create new content
  • Edit existing content
  • Publish and unpublish content
  • Manage media files

Author #

Authors can create and manage their own content.

Permissions include:

  • Create articles
  • Edit their own articles
  • Submit content for review

Contributor #

Contributors can write content but cannot publish it.

Permissions include:

  • Create drafts
  • Edit their own drafts
  • Submit drafts for approval

Subscriber #

Subscribers have limited access.

Permissions include:

  • Log in to their account
  • Update profile information
  • View protected content (if permitted)

Assigning a User Role #

  1. Navigate to Users.
  2. Select the user you want to edit.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Choose a role from the Role dropdown.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Best Practices #

  • Grant users only the permissions they need.
  • Review user roles regularly.
  • Remove inactive users when they no longer require access.
  • Avoid assigning Administrator privileges unless necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions #

Can I change a user’s role later? #

Yes. Administrators can update user roles at any time.

Can a user have multiple roles? #

This depends on your system configuration. Some platforms support multiple roles, while others allow only one role per user.

Why can’t a user access certain features? #

The assigned role may not include permission to access those features. Review the user’s permissions or contact an administrator.
